Laurel School District Business Manager Donnie McVee attended her final school board meeting last week as she has resigned to take a different job in School District 2.

The Great Falls native has been at the position since July of 2013 and is leaving to take what she calls a “lesser position” in the Billings School District. “It has fewer hours and less responsibility; I call it ‘semi–retirement,’” she said.

McVee said her time in Laurel was an excellent experience for her. “It became home right away,” she said, while acknowledging “this has been a difficult year.”

Superintendent Linda Filpula recognized McVee’s hard work during her tenure in the district at last week’s school board meeting. “It’s been an honor to serve with her; she is going to be missed.”

School Board Chair Karen Teeters said, “I am very sorry to see Donnie leave the Laurel School District. She has been an asset and worked very hard for our schools. I wish her the best in her new adventure.”

McVee said, “It’s been my pleasure to work with the superintendent, the school board, administrators and all the staff. I’m sad to leave but it felt like something I had to do.”
