Local hunter education volunteers honored

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks honored volunteer hunter education and bowhunter education instructors at the state-wide workshop in Helena, June 23-25.
•Alan Eik of Joliet was honored for 35 years as a volunteer hunter education instructor.
•Pat Pierson of Roberts was recognized for 20 years as a hunter safety educator.
•Dan Guarino of Roberts has volunteered for 15 years in hunter education.
•Ananda Feldhaus of Park City received the 10-year instructor award for hunter education.
•Doug Whitney of Joliet was recognized for five years of service as a volunteer in bowhunter education.
•Irv Wilke of Laurel was presented the challenge coins in recognition of his work in both programs.
This year is the 60th anniversary of hunter education and 30th anniversary of bowhunter education in Montana.
