The Laurelaires Choir recently sold Christmas wreaths throughout the community. While raising funds for their group, the fundraiser also helped out Montana Christmas Evergreen, a local business ran by the McFate family.
Rhonda Burghardt, the Laurelaires advisor noted, “It is not often that a fundraiser [also] supports a local business.”
The Laurelaires plan to use the money they raised to send students to All Northwest Choir in Bellevue, Wash., an honors group program, purchase new music and concert attire.
There are currently 120 students in the Laurel High School choirs, which is divided into six different singing groups.
On Wednesday, Dec. 14, the Laurelaires caroled in Billings. They will also carol at the local schools with the Jazz Band on Thursday, Dec. 22; however, that performance is reserved for students.
The Laurelaires’ December concert will be held in the Laurel High School Auditorium on Monday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m. A donation of a non-perishable food item will grant admission into the concert. All donations will be given to Community Hope, along with an unwrapped present from each student in the program.
“This concert features lots of music, both sacred and secular,” Burghardt said. Songs such as “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Silent Night,” “The Christmas Song,” and many more will be performed. “Angels We Have Heard on High,” as sung by the entire choir will open the concert. Ending the night will be the A Capella choir and alumni singing the “Hallelujah Chorus.”
