According to Jonna Jones, Billings director of marketing for the Wendy’s fast food chain, locals started to line up in the new Laurel Wendy’s drive-through starting as early as 6 p.m. on the evening prior to the grand opening at 10:30 a.m. on July 15. Framed in between Reese and Ray’s IGA and Taco Bell, the drive-through for Wendy’s had drivers spilled out into the parking lot of IGA resulting in a traffic jam blocking the east entrance to the grocery store on Wednesday morning before the store opened. The first 50 drivers coming through were rewarded with a slip numbered one to 50 individually, which would earn them one free item every week for a year.
