The Lady Locos won their first two games at the State Class A tournament in Butte last weekend before falling to Polson and Frenchtown to take 3rd and finish an excellent season with a 19–2 record.

After picking up quarterfinal and semifinal wins over Havre (10–4) and Frenchtown (5–2) on last Thursday and Friday, the Lady Loco softball team was one game away from the Class A State Championship.

They fell to one–loss Polson 1–0 on Saturday morning in extra innings.

Ella Crookston pitched an excellent game, throwing all nine innings and only giving up one run and seven hits while striking out 13 Polson batters with no walks. She threw 142 pitches with 107 of them being strikes.

Six different Laurel players got one hit but they couldn’t get across the plate and fell 1–0 in the pitching duel.

Right after that game finished they played Frenchtown again with a chance to face Polson in the championship series where they would have to beat them twice.

Frenchtown took the 2–1 lead into the second where they scored four runs to go up 6–1 before the Locos scored five in the third and fourth to tie the game. Laurel didn’t score again and Frenchtown added four to win the game 10–6.

The Locos ended the season with the 2nd best record in the State, were conference and Divisional champions and had 19 wins in a row during the year.
