Laurel School District now has a third trustee position to fill this spring.
Two of the positions will be decided by Laurel voters in an election, and five candidates are on the ballot for the May 3 election to fill spots left by two retiring trustees. In addition to the elected positions, the Laurel School Board will select a trustee to finish out the term left by the recent death of trustee Dale Ahrens.
Ballots have been mailed out, and voters have until May 3 to complete their ballots and mail them to Yellowstone County Elections Office. They must be postmarked by May 3.
The Laurel Outlook - Yellowstone Group is publishing profiles of each of the five candidates vying for a School Board trustee position.
To be considered for the third vacancy left by Ahrens, candidates must be residents of the Laurel School District. Letters of application will be accepted until 4 p.m. on May 5. Submit applications to the Office of the District Clerk. 410 Colorado Ave., Laurel, Mont. 59044.
The Laurel School Board will individually interview the finalists in a regular or special meeting and appoint the candidate who, in the judgment of the board, is most likely to “contribute to the growth and development of the District’s education programs and operations.”
