A man driving a pickup pursued through Laurel by Billings Police officers, Montana Highway Patrol troopers and Laurel Police Department officers Tuesday morning beginning at about 11:10 a.m. after the suspect left I-90 westbound at the E. Laurel exit. After traveling through Laurel on Main St., the man turned around and led police back to Billings before he abandoned the truck on N. 15th Ave. and headed up the rimrocks on foot. According to reports, Billings schools were briefly locked down.
After a standoff lasting several hours the man surrendered and was arrested. He has been identified as Dustin Kennedy. Kennedy, 33, is facing two charges of felony criminal endangerment, shoplifting and failure to appear, according to the Yellowstone County Detention Center website. Kennedy was charged in Yellowstone County Justice Court with felony sexual intercourse without consent last April after evidence, including DNA, connected him to the rape.
