At last week’s Laurel Exchange Club meeting, the Club presented a check for $4,000 to Laurel Hometown Troops and a check for $1,300 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Yellowstone County-Laurel Program. The funds to make the donations possible came from the Healing Field® event that occurred in September over the 9/11 Remembrance Week. The Exchange Club sold sponsorships to local businesses as well as commemorative tags and flags honoring heroes to in- dividuals.

The Laurel Exchange Club chose these entities because they follow two of the pillars of service of Exchange Club, honoring the military and supporting our youth. Laurel Hometown Troops sends care packages during the holiday season to troops stationed overseas. Their main expense is the shipping costs for each box they send. Because of this donation, they were able to ship the packages in time for Thanksgiving. The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Yellowstone County-Laurel Program is a Laurel High School-based program that facilitates high school students to develop mentoring relationships with students in the lower grades.

In addition to these donations, the Laurel Exchange Club has awarded small thank you gifts to the Laurel Boy Scouts, Laurel Girl Scouts and Laurel Honors Club for their assistance during the Healing Field® event.

The Laurel Exchange Club meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at Sid’s Eastside Bar & Grill. See the club on Facebook at facebook.com/laurelexchangeclub or their website at www.laurelexchangeclub.org.
