Laurel downs Miles City, moves to #4 in the State

The Loco football team handed Miles City their second loss of the season on Friday with a 21–0 road win. The victory moved them into second place in the Eastern Conference (5–1) and up a spot to #4 in the state heading into the Class A Playoffs this weekend.

Laurel picked up their third win in a row on the strength of 302 yards of offense and a defense that had three sacks and forced three turnovers.

After a scoreless first, James Ochs scored on a 3–yard run and Tyler Emineth hit the extra point to take the 7–0 lead into the half.

The score remained the same until the 4th quarter when Eli Aby connected with Beau Dantic for a 30–yard TD pass. After an Emineth kick Laurel led 14–0. Ochs scored again on a 7–yard run and the defense held giving the Locos the 21–0 win over their conference rival.

Laurel kept the ball on the ground for most of the game, accumulating 177 rushing yards on 47 carries. Dantic had 19 for 78 yards, James Ochs 13 for 63 with two rushing scores and Aby 14 rushes for 30 yards.

Aby was 5 for 11 passing for 125 yards and a TD. Dantic had two receptions for 81 yards and a score. Colter Bales had one catch for 30 yards.

Dantic, Landen Baxter and Shel Osborne each had a sack and Dantic, Aby and Kyson Moran each had an interception.

Laurel now hosts the #3 seed out of the West, Frenchtown, tomorrow night at 6 p.m. in the Laurel Stadium in the first round of the Class A State Playoffs. The winner will face either Hamilton or Sidney the following week in the State Semi–Finals.
