Laurel dancers earn medals in BSSG

Dancers from MJ Studios in Laurel performed for the BSSG and brought home medals. The dancers are identified from the left in the back row as Michelle Kelsey, Jeanette Woodgerd, Julissa Morse, Jamie Rosin and Laurie Gebhard. In the middle row, they are Maria Bocquin, Sara Bocquin and Amanda Swenson. Standing in the front is Xaia Courtney and on the floor are Brianna Schultz and Booklyn Novak.

Mj Studios of Laurel took a total of 12 dancers to the Big Sky State Games who performed seven numbers. The dancers brought home four gold place finishes and three silver finishes! The adult class competed for the first time and brought home a gold medal for their performance of “Dragula” (choreography by Jamie Rivera) and a silver medal for “Jailhouse Rock” (choreography by Sara Bocquin). Sara Bocquin was awarded a gold medal for her self-choreographed tap solo “I Need a Dollar.” The Duo, Brooklyn Novak and Brianna Schultz received a silver medal for their jazz duo “River” (choreography by Brianna Schultz) and Brooklyn Novak received a gold medal for the jazz solo she choreographed, “Human.” Xaia Courtney, MJ Studios’ youngest competitor this year, received a gold for her tap solo “Mr. Glassman” and a silver medal for in jazz solo for ”Feeling Good” both choreographed by her.
