Employees of the Laurel 3 Town Pump Location #9501 have won a monetary reward for passing a compliance check for refusing to sell alcohol to underage persons. This diligence is good news for all fellow employees, who will share in winnings totaling $450.

In an aggressive effort to control under-age drinking, Town Pump launched its “Unstung Heroes” program in April 2006. It rewards employees for passing random compliance checks by law enforcement officials.

Each employee from the store or casino who wins the once-aquarter drawing will receive a $50 reward card. Town Pump has paid out over $100,000 through the program so far.

Laurel 3 Town Pump is this quarter’s winner. They are one of the two convenience stores that successfully kept alcohol out of the hands of minors.

“The ‘Unstung Heroes’ program is proving to be successful in promoting responsible alcohol sales at Town Pump Food Stores and Casinos across Montana,” said company spokesman Bill McGladdery. “Great job, Laurel 3 Town Pump for preventing underage sales and many thanks for being an ‘Unstung Hero.’”

All clerks are required to be certified in Training for Intervention Procedures, and Techniques of Alcohol Management. Both TIPS and TAM programs teach the use of identification card readers for reducing errors in reading the ages on IDs; and each store displays posters and other materials to discourage minors from trying to break the law.
