Of the three schools whose sports are covered here at the Outlook, all of them had at least one representative in the Bill- ings Hotel Senior Classic games this past weekend. The Laurel Locomotives had three representatives from the team, the Park City Panthers had two and the Joliet J-Hawks had one.

The Billings Hotel Senior Classic is an event that gathers the best Montana high school basketball players to compete amongst each other. From Class AA to Class C, North to South and East to West, every last one of the best seniors gather together to give college scouts one more chance to watch them play amongst the best talent in the whole state. Over 50 college coaches and scouts came to watch the players compete. These coaches and scouts cover a seven state area, including Canada.

Laurel’s Gaje Leischner was the only senior selected for the Senior Classic. The senior led the Locomotives in scoring this past season and his scoring, leadership on both ends and vocalness on the court were recognized by the Billings Hotel Senior Classic selection committee. His highest scoring outbreak in this Senior Classic was 16 points against the South AA team. Laurel’s head coach Pat Hansen and assistant coach Steve Willis coached the Eastern A seniors in these games.

For Park City, it was two seniors selected to the Southern C team. Connor McNeil and Tristan Johnstone both were selected as two of the best seniors in the Southern C. McNeil and Johnstone both started every game this season, and were both irreplaceable post players that the Park City Panthers will miss very much next season.

Joliet’s Ry Olson, an all-class B guard, was also selected to be a part of the Bill- ings Hotel Senior Classic. He was select- ed to the South B team, and was a top scorer in every game he played. He scored 19 in the first game, 23 in the second game, and 17 in the last game. The superlative scoring of Olson will be nearly irreplaceable for the J-Hawks next year.
