Laura Mae Frank unexpectedly fell into God’s arms of natural causes at her home on February 1, 2021. Laura was 90.

Laura was born to Jacob and Augusta (Propp) Batt on February 15, 1930, at 115 Alderson Street in Billings, Montana. Her family soon moved to Laurel where Laura attended school. She graduated from Laurel High School. She boasted she finished 4th in her class. After graduation, she worked at Carter Oil Company in Billings.

On January 13, 1951, Laura married Calvin Brester. They lived and farmed west of Laurel and had four children. Calvin died June 13, 1975. On April 15, 1978, Laura married Dave Frank and gained a stepdaughter. Dave died December 30, 2007. At a Frank family reunion in 2008, Laura reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Lyle Rupp. They were married on September 18, 2010, and she gained three stepsons and a special friend in Lyle’s sister, Gladys Besel. Lyle died August 20, 2015.

Laura had an overall love for life. She liked to stay busy and seemed to have endless energy, and she always enjoyed the company of others. In her spare time, she liked working in her yard, landscaping it beautifully with flowers, sandstone and other rocks, and various decorations. Laura loved music, painting pictures, and social gatherings, and she was a lifelong member of her church. She played the organ at Laurel’s First Congregational Church for 64 years and played the day before she died. She played at countless weddings, funerals and other gatherings. She also played the piano and accordion. Laura took weekly painting classes for years and was quite prolific with her paintings and arts and crafts projects. Laura was a very sociable person and hosted many reunions, social events and gatherings at her home. She will be missed by many.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, by her sisters, Esther Frank (Jake), and Lillian Sorg (Herman), and her three husbands. She is survived by her daughter, Kari Gunter (Ira Eakin), her sons, Mark (Becky), Lon (Georgia),and Greg (Kathy);her stepdaughter Chris Lambrecht (Rick); and stepsons Doug Rupp (Di), Greg Rupp (Linda), and Jerald Rupp (Carol); nine grandchildren, (Sami, Coralene, Ryan, Amber, Haley, Kaiser, “Lil” Amber, Soni, and Jeremy); eight step grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and her cat, Boots.

We love you, Mom, and you will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
