Lady Panthers on the prowl for state track crown

The Park City Lady Panthers continued to be the class of Class C track as they ran, threw and jumped their way to the divisional title last Friday in Laurel.

The girls had 117 team points to easily outdistance second-place Broadview-Lavina’s 69 points.

The boys’ squad finished second to Roberts.

All four of the Panther relay teams ran to victory.

The Lady Panthers were led by their seniors.  

Rayna Laakso had a big day winning the 100, 200, and 100 hurdles.  She also placed 3rd in the long jump and 3rd in the high jump.  MacKinzie Verke won the triple jump while also taking 4th in the high jump and 4th in the long jump.  She was also a part of the both relays which placed 1st.  Shelby Branstetter placed 2nd in the 300 hurdles, 3rd in the 100 hurdles while also running on the winning relay teams.  Brittany Frank threw for a 2nd place finish in the javelin.  Sophomore Blakely Verke also placed in multiple events.  She placed 3rd in the 400, 4th in the 800, and 5th in the 200.  She is also a part of both relays.  Andee Baker placed 6th in 400 and ran a leg on both of the relays.  Alexis Tryan placed 5th in the 100 hurdles. 

The boys had a great day as well.  Brandon Flemmer won the 800, placed 3rd in the 100 while also running a leg on both of the relays.  

Devon Dennis placed 5th in the 100, 5th in the 200 and ran on both relays.  Jordan Neves ran a leg on the 4 x 100 relay.  Rylan Gauthier placed 3rd in the Triple Jump and 6th in the High Jump, and runs a leg of the 4 x 100 relay.  Devyn Shakley placed 6th in the javelin and also ran a leg on the 4 x 400 relay.  Sophomore Connor McNeil brought in points by placing 2nd in the javelin, 3rd in the discus, and 2nd in the 300 hurdles.  He also runs the 4 x 400 relay.   Eli Larsen placed 2nd in the 100 hurdles and 6th in the 300 hurdles.  Jim Wetmore placed 6th in the 100 hurdles.

The top 5 in each event head to state this Friday and Saturday in Laurel.
