Last Saturday the Lady Locos fell to Hardin 58–33 in a physical loser–out game at MetraPark with the winner advancing to the Consolation game and a berth in the Class A State tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs hit two quick three’s to open the game, which unfortunately was a theme throughout. Alyse Abby made a nice three–point play with 12 seconds left in the first quarter, which ended with Laurel down 15–8, but that was as close as they would get for the rest of the game. The half ended with Hardin up 33–13.

Hardin shot 60% from the field in the first half and made seven 3’s while the Locos were 0–5 from behind the arc and shot 20%.

The second half was more of the same with Hardin hitting three more 3’s before Emma Timm got Laurel’s first deep range shot to fall. The Locos went on a 9–2 run to end the third quarter 44–25 but were outscored 14 to 8 in the fourth to lose 58–33.

Morgan Maack led the Locos with 10 points, Grace Timm had eight, Emma Timm had six and Sophia Timm had five. Aby and Emma each had three steals and Grace and Bailey Graves had two apiece.

The Lady Locos rebounded from a first round loss to Glendive at MetraPark last Friday, knocking the Cowgirls out of the Divisional tournament in Lockwood. Five Laurel players scored in the first quarter and they led 12–4.

Three pointers kept Miles City in the game in the second quarter and they were within three at the half, 20–17. Laurel stretched the lead to eight after the third on a three and a three point play from Grace Timm. The Lady Locos were up 14 halfway through the fourth and didn’t let up, beating the Cowgirls by 17 points, 51–34.

Grace led the team with 13 points, Emma Timm had 11 and Morgan Maack and Bailey Graves each had nine.

Glendive 45, Laurel 41

After beating Glendive on the road on Feb. 20 to end the regular season, the #5 Lady Locos were upset by the Lady Red Devils in the opening round game of the Class A Divisional tournament at MetraPark. Laurel started fast and were up 7–0 until Glendive went on a run of their own. Freshman Emma Timm hit a shot at the buzzer to put the Locos up six, 15–9. Emma scored five points in a row in the second to put Laurel up 20–15 before they lost the lead for the first time with 1:45 left. Senior Morgan Maack hit two free throws to tie the game heading into the half at 24–24.

Alyse Aby had a steal and a layup followed by a three pointer to give Laurel the 31–28 lead with six minutes left in the third. Sophia Timm stretched the lead to five on a reverse layup and Grace Timm got fouled after a steal and added a free throw to go up six before the quarter ended with Laurel up one, 37–36.

In the fourth, Aby had a nice layup to regain the lead at 39–38 with 5:26 left, but then the Locos struggled to score, only managing two points the rest of the game. Glendive finished the game on a 7–2 run and Laurel fell 45–41.

Emma led Laurel with 16 points, Aby had nine, Sophia with five and Grace had four with six steals.
