Lady Locos drop three games in Star Valley Shootout

The Lady Locos had a close loss in their first game at the Star Valley Shootout on Afton, Wyo. last Thursday, falling to the Green Canyon Lady Wolves of North Logan, Utah 44-42.
After trailing at the half 22-16, Laurel outscored the Lady Wolves 14-4 in the third quarter to take a 30-26 lead into the final eight minutes.
They couldn’t hang on and fell by two points.
Aspen Cotter led the Locos in with 10 points, four rebounds and three steals. Kaitlyn Daws nearly had a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds. Sammi Spitzer and Paige O’Toole each had eight points.
The girls fell to Sugar-Salem JV team of Idaho on Friday 28-24. The Lady Locos held a one point advantage going into the fourth quarter but were outscored 10-5 to lose by four points.
Cotter led all scorers with 16 points and Riley Chapman added four.
On Saturday the Locos fell to the Sugar-Salem varsity squad 57-22.
Paige O’Toole led Laurel with six points, three rebounds and two steals.
The Lady Locos host Hardin tonight at 6 p.m. then are off until Jan. 6.
