The Laurel girl’s golf team summer tournament season is underway as they prepare to make a run at their fourth consecutive State Class A Championship in the fall.

The senior trio of Hannah Adams, Haylee Adams and Breana Jensen have won nearly every tournament as a team in their first three years at LHS, including 25 Class A tournaments in a row dating back to their freshman season. Last fall they won every tournament by an average of nearly 80 shots and broke the 26 year old Class A State tournament scoring record by nine shots.

Rounding out last year’s championship team were freshman Alivia Webinger and sophomore Molly Cooney.

Webinger, who was State runner up at Butte Country Club, suffered a severe injury during a basketball game in February and tore her ACL along with other ligaments. She still wears a leg brace and will sit out the 2021–2022 sports season while she rehabs.

In her absence incoming junior Molly Cooney will move up to the four spot and sophomore Alyssa Robertus will likely move up to the varsity team in the five spot.

On June 7 Hannah and Haylee qualified for the Montana State Junior tournament at Eagle Rock Golf Course. Hannah won the District 4 qualifier with a 78 and Haylee took 4th with an 86. The State Junior tournament will be held at Cottonwood Hills Golf Club in Bozeman this coming Monday and Tuesday. The twins will play in Yellowstone County Jr. events this summer in preparation for the Montana Women’s Amateur Championship July 29–31 at Meadow Lark Country Club in Great Falls.

Breana has a light tournament schedule this summer and said she will play at different courses throughout the summer as she travels with her family.

The 2021 LHS golf season begins August 12 and will culminate with the Class A State Championship in early Oct. at Polson Bay Golf Course.
