Peyton Whitehead (10) is one of two seniors on a Lady J– Hawk team looking to improve on their 4th place finish at the Southern B Divisional tourney last year.

Lady J–Hawks Head Coach Kendall Denham said this year’s team returns three players who played “major minutes” during their 2020-2021 run to a 4th place finish at the Class B Divisional tournament.

“We lost three seniors from last year and have two this year in Kyelynn Coombe and Peyton Whitehead. We are a fairly young team but I like how we have looked so far during practice, with the girls improving everyday,” Denham said.

Joliet finished last season with a 12–12 record. They finished 3rd at the District 4B tournament after beating Red Lodge 37–22 in the consolation game and then easily handled Baker 59–39 in the play–in game to advance to the Southern B Divisional tournament and an eventual 4th place finish.

Denham said this year’s team strength features more help coming from the bench. “We will be deeper than we were last year.”

She is assisted by JV coach Shay Lind and C–squad coach George Warburton.
