Kerns opinion is not “divine judgement”

In reply to the Aug. 8, 2019 op/ed in the Laurel Outlook, I have a news flash: Krayton Kerns is not God and labeling those who disagree with him as “evil,” is only his opinion, not a declaration of divine judgement. My immediate response was to list cruel and truly evil actions and hateful rhetoric by “rightists,” when I realized that is their tactic: division, dischord, and disparagement. I believe we are all Americans, patriots who love this country but disagree on how best our government should be “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” We can disagree without being disagreeable. We must unite in our resolve not to allow foreign entities to interfere in our elections and dictate the discussion of candidates and the societal obligations of our government. We need unity, not division.
