Keep your distance

Everyday I see folks on Facebook screaming about “fake news,” which wasn’t really a thing until President Trump had to have a scape goat. At this point, his rhetoric has become standard, even among Democrats. If you want to holler about “fake news,” please consider who you are painting with such a wide brush.

While we, and most journalists, are careful to be accurate and bring you the information that is important, relevant and truthful, we can only pass on the news as given to us by the news-makers. Blame them if you don’t like it.

That said, anything on this page, on Fox News, the Rachel Maddow show or any late-night comedy is commentary. The reports may be fact-based, but are generally slanted based on their world views. That doesn’t necessarily mean they are wrong, but please consider the source and make up your own mind.

News we bring you elsewhere in the paper, you may count on being accurate. That said, news, like life, is subject to change. Meetings, activities and planned events we reported on as being scheduled a few short weeks ago are now cancelled.

News on the novel corona virus is less than four months old, and it is a rapidly evolving. We are doing our best to keep you updated with information you need to stay safe. That may change next week. Keep that in mind before you blame the media. In the meantime, keep your distance and thanks for reading!
