passed away on September 4th, 2022. Judy was born on September 18th, 1934, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Marshall and Margaret Huntington.

Judy moved to Laurel, Montana in 1938, when her father went to work for the Independent Oil Refinery.

She remembered riding the train with her mother from Minneapolis to Laurel to join her father. She was raised in Laurel, graduating in 1952.

Judy met Ervin Metzger while working at the Dutch Mill in Laurel. They were married January 31, 1953.

Together they raised 9 children. Judy was a selfless wife and Mother, always putting the needs of her family before her own. She was very proud of her children and rarely missed the opportunity to be involved in their activities. As the younger children got older, Judy ventured out into the working world. She managed the dining room at the Laurel Golf Club and later became the manager of the Locomotive Inn Casino. Judy was a social butterfly.

She loved people and they loved her right back.

Judy was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Laurel and St. Catherine’s Council.

Judy is survived by her husband of 69 years, Ervin Metzger and her 9 children, Cindy (Jerry) Riesinger of Laurel, Karen (Tim) Morales of Laurel, Doug Metzger of Glendale, Arizona, Gary (Jean) Metzger of Gold Canyon, Arizona, Tim Metzger of Billings, Mike (Barb) Metzger of Billings, Mark (Marla) Metzger of Phoenix, Arizona, Pat (Geri) Metzger of Boise, Idaho and Margaret (Tom) Flynn of Billings.

She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren, her brother Fred Huntington of Smyra, Georgia and her sister Jane Bangert of Billings.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents Marshall and Margaret Huntington and her sister Joan Markovich.

Judy’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Compassus Hospice and Highgate staff, for their outstanding compassion and care during her final days.

Judy’s service will be Friday September 16th at 11:00 a.m., at Smith Funeral Chapel, 315 East 3rd St, in Laurel. Interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery and a reception will follow at Grace Bible Church, 917 Washington Ave. Laurel. If desired donations may be made in Judy’s name to St. Vincent DePaul, 3005 1st Ave. S., Billings, MT. 59101.
