Joliet Superintendent letter to parents

Thursday, August 13, 2020

On Tuesday Joliet Schools Superintendent Allison Evertz sent the following letter to parents in the district:

The Joliet Board of Trustees met on August 10th to discuss the school’s reopening plan. As a result, all students will return to school in-person as part of a full reopening plan with mitigating strategies in place on August 27th. Face coverings will be required for all individuals in the building.

As a reminder, parents have the option to choose remote learning while we are in the full in-person model. Please see the overview of our remote learning plan then take the follow-up survey to inform us of your decision regarding your child(ren’s) participation in either remote or full in-person learning for the start of the school year. Please complete the survey before August 17th. This information is critical for finalizing our reopening plans.

Parents wishing to homeschool their child(ren) need to file the appropriate paperwork with the Carbon County Superintendent of Schools. Please notify the school if you intend to homeschool.

Remember, that as the situation changes, we will use guidance from Carbon County Public Health to make decisions on transitioning to distance learning for all students. This year, more than ever, we are asking for our families to be vigilant in monitoring their students’ health. Please do not send your child(ren) to school if they are presenting CO-VID-19 symptoms. All parents should read Carbon County Public Health’s plan which details the school’s required response to symptoms and positive cases in the school.

The District is continuously updating a Frequently Asked Questions document that can be found at www.gojhawks.com.
