The Lady J–Hawk volleyball team beat conference rival Huntley Project twice to win the District 4B title in Columbus last weekend.

Coach Colette Webber said, “The team has 5 returning players from last year that gained a lot of confidence from playing Huntley in several Championship games in 2019, including State where we took them to five in the Championship game.”

After a first round bye, Joliet topped Roundup 3–0 then beat Huntley 3–0 in the undefeated semifinals. After Huntley beat Roundup they faced off again in the first championship match with Huntley winning in 3–2. The J–Hawks rebounded in the second championship game, blanking their rivals 3–0 to take the title and advance to Divisionals.

“We have been to State the last 4 years and have grown because of those opportunities. We have gained a lot of confidence this season and really worked on being a team and utilizing all of our players. I have 5 girls who play the entire game. Having them all be well rounded players has been the key to our success. The younger players have come in played some big roles. They also continue to grow in their skills and confidence as well.”

Joliet heads to Red Lodge today to face Whitehall in the first round of the Divisional tournament at 1 p.m. The winner will face either Colstrip or Broadwater at 7 p.m.
