Joliet Class of 2016 celebrates commencement

After years of hard work in classes, activities and athletics, 26 graduates will pass through the Joliet High School gymnasium one final time as they prepare to leave the familiarity of school for their promising futures. Commencement exercises for the Joliet High School Class of 2016 will be held Sunday, May 22, at 2 p.m. in the JHS gym.

A nod to their many years together, the class’s motto is, “And we danced, and we cried, and we laughed. And had a really, really, really good time. Take my hand, let’s have a blast. And remember this moment for rest of our lives,” from Macklemore. The seniors chose the lily as their class flower and “The Verge” by Owl City as their class song.

Twenty-six seniors will walk across the stage in front of supportive family and friends to receive their diploma. In alphabetical order, the class includes: Alec Arana, Kacey Bertolino, Hunter Brooks, Annie Cooke, Matthew Doll, Erik Erickson, Jasmine Frank, Jess Grewell, Jessica Gruel, Kenyon Hatten, Sara Johnston, Cynthia Lavers, Cameron Lloyd, Arabella Mancini, Colter Peterson, Jordan Polesky, Sari Anne Robertus, Whitney Rouane, Jared Schwend, Anthony Songstad, Tristan Stovall, Ryan Sweeney, Averi Thompson, Austin Webber, Karlie Wetstein and Brittany Worden.
