Joliet defeated Roundup on the road in five games last Thursday. Coach Colette Webber said she likes the aggressive nature of this year’s team, but admits it costs them a few points.

“They had too many hitting errors at key moments, which hurt them at times [in Roundup],” she said.

The J-Hawks split the first four games 24-26, 25-16, 25-9 and 22-25 before winning the tie breaker, 17-15.

The team had 52 kills with Vanessa Nowak accounting for 14. Shayla Webber had 22 of the teams 45 assists. Nowak had 7 of the J-Hawks 13 aces. Joilet had 99 digs with Webber getting 23. Tysa Oswald had 3 of the team’s 10 blocks.

At the Huntley Invitational, the J-Hawks beat Red Lodge 25-23 and 25-22 to take third place.

Coach Webber said they finished first in their pool after defeating Forsyth, Absarokee and Colstrip which put them in the Gold bracket where they defeated Colstrip in three games; 25-20, 14-25 and 15-11, to advance to the semi-final match against Three Forks.

The Wolves defeated the J-Hawks 25-19 and 23-25 to advance to the championship match.

In the consolation match, Joliet defeated Red Lodge 25-23 and 25-22 to claim third place.

Of their finish, Coach Webber said they had a solid and focused day of volleyball at the Huntley Invitational.

“They supported each other when they were behind and celebrated when the game was good. [It was] such a fun day to watch these girls compete,” she said.
