Help available for heating costs

Many people struggle to afford heating their home during Montana’s winter season. HRDC in Billings and Hardin offers assistance through LIEAP, the low-income energy assistance
program. LIEAP pays a portion of the eligible applicant’s heating bill directly to the utility provider during the heating season of Oct. 1 through April 30 of each year. Assistance is based on income eligibility and other criteria and is available to both homeowners and renters.
Last year, LIEAP helped close to 3,000 families in HRDC’s five-county service area, which includes Big Horn, Carbon, Stillwater, Sweet Grass and Yellowstone counties. Applications for assistance are available now and will be accepted through next April. Call, click, or come by today to submit your application for energy assistance this winter season. Contact HRDC at: 406-247-4778, www.hrdc7.org or at 3116 1st Avenue North in Billings.
