The Lord called Gordon J. Demaray home on the evening of December 22, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Gordon was born on January 23, 1944, to Mildred Leathers Schock and Richard “Dick” Demaray. He started working to help support his family at age 10, and as a young man, he enlisted in the Army to valiantly serve our country in the Vietnam War.

He moved to Montana in 1970 and settled in Park City with his late wife, Elaine Hooper Demaray. He worked hard on the railroad as a welder in the rail plant for the remainder of his working days. Gordon served at church as a greeter, and always had a warm smile to share. In 2011, he married Fern Demaray, with whom he shared the last 10 years. Gordon was known for his generous and giving heart and contagious chuckle. He never met a stranger, and was known to welcome anyone in for a meal or a place to stay. To Gordon, strangers were just friends he had not yet met. He was often seen creating or repairing things for others as a way to love and serve them, as he loved building and tinkering. He was always elbow-deep in several building projects, and often spent his time coming up with new ideas to tackle and skills to master. In his later years, he enjoyed four-wheeling with his brothers and was always ready for a road trip to visit family and friends in other states. He was down to earth, gentle, kind and loving. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all. Gordon is very loved, and his kind and generous spirit and servant’s heart will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Leathers Schock, his father Richard “Dick” Demaray, his late wife, Elaine Hooper Demaray and his grandson, David Greif. He is survived by his wife: Fern Demaray, his two children: Diane Morawski (Phil), Kathy Demaray Brunsvold (Kevin), grandchildren: Greg Greif, Patrick (Laura), Jillian (Adam and their four children), Lauren (Casey and their daughter), Fern’s nine children and their spouses, and his siblings: Richard P. Demaray (Lara), Jack Demaray (Shirley), Thomas A. Demaray, Wynona Demaray Traversie, Benjamin Kelly Demaray (Valerie), and Maynard K. Demaray.
