Exchange Club plans extend into fall

The Exchange Club of Laurel continues to look into several events in the coming months as well as plan out some more.
Last week’s meeting started out with Ryan Jore from Granite Fitness discussed his work to start The Wine Mile in Billings. He plans on hosting this as a fundraiser for MS. It will be a 3/4 mile run with three stops for the runner to grab a new glass of wine. Anyone interested can find out more info on the run at https://www.facebook.com/The-Wine-Mile and www.winemilemt.com. Organizers are looking for participant and volunteers. The cost to run is $35.
President Ken Gomer announced the paperwork is coming along to have the club incorporated with the state.
Ken sent out a list of members and their contact info to everyone.
Susan Walters is going forward with the Back to School Supplies drive and hopes to get assistance from other members.
Gomer plans on going to a seminar of a program to help with club communication.
During the committee announcements, a member of the Programs Committee announced that a meeting on Aug. 3 at High Plains Brewing. Members of the Fundraising Board will have a meeting scheduled by next week.
American Legion Post #111 in Billings is looking for runners and volunteers for their run on Aug. 20. The run will begin at 9 a.m. and the route goes along Airport Rd., starting at the roundabout. The Laurel Exchange club will have a group participating.
Lief Welhaven brought up the Billings Breakfast Exchange Club sponsorship of Veteran’s Day at MontanaFair. They will sponsor the entrance tickets for all veterans and hold a ceremony at 5:30 p.m. They will need help, handing out flags and putting on a barbecue. The focus of this year’s Veteran’s Day is Woman of the Military. Welhaven will send out information with the exact time later. Interested parties can also find event times and location online at www.MontanaFair.com
Club members reiterated their commitment to the upcoming rededication of the Freedom Shrine at Laurel Middle School. A representative will talk to the principal about what day works best for the school. There will be a plaque added to the shrine to commemorate the rededication.
