Dodgers take Eastern A championship – off to state!

The Laurel Dodgers have no time to enjoy their Eastern A championship as they square off today in the state tournament.
The Dodgers will face the Glacier Twins at 1 p.m. The complete state championship bracket is located on the Dodger support page in this Outlook.
The stellar performance by the Dodgers this season also resulted in team members being singled out for post-season honors.

Carson West leads the Dodgers to 6-1 victory thanks to 9 strikeouts
A superb effort by Carson West led the Dodgers to a 6-1 win over Glendive Blue Devils on Friday at Pirtz Field in Billings.
West racked up nine strikeouts in the the Dodgers win. He allowed one earned run on four hits and four walks over nine innings.
Dawson Cortese led the Dodgers’ offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He scored one run and had one RBI. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the seventh inning.
Rossi was the game’s losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in six innings, walked four and struck out three.
The Dodgers didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring one run in the first inning when they scored on an RBI double by Cortese.
The Dodgers pushed across two runs in both the fifth inning and the seventh. In the fifth, the Dodgers scored, scoring Carson Hoke.
The Dodgers increased their lead with two runs in the seventh. The inning looked promising, as Kanyin Moran doubled, plating Trevor Meier to kick things off.
In the ninth inning, Glendive Blue Devils pushed across its only run of the day on a steal of home.

The Dodgers scatter 13 Richland County Patriots hits in 4-3 win
Mason O’Donnell allowed 12 hits, but managed to get enough outs to help the Dodgers defeat Richland County Patriots on Saturday at Pirtz Field- Billings.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.
The Dodgers took the lead in the fifth inning and held on for the victory. The Dodgers went up for good on an RBI single by Karson Zeiler off Mueller, plating O’Donnell.
Mueller couldn’t get it done on the hill for Richland County Patriots, taking a loss. He lasted just eight innings, walked five, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
Dodgers closer Cameron Schriver put away the final two outs to record the save.
The top of the first saw Richland County Patriots take an early lead, 1-0. The Richland County Patriots attack began with a single from Norby. A single by Severson then moved Norby from first to second. Peters singled, scoring Norby.
The Dodgers survived Richland County Patriots’ surge and put up one run of their own in the first. The Dodgers scored on a groundout by Kanyin Moran.
Richland County Patriots brought home one run in the fifth inning, and matched that run total in the ninth. In the fifth, Richland County Patriots scored on an RBI double by Halvorson, plating Dean.
The fifth spelled defeat for Richland County Patriots, as the Dodgers grabbed the lead for good. More runners rounded the bases on two singles.
One run in the top of the ninth helped Richland County Patriots close its deficit to 4-3. An RBI single by Halvorson set off Richland County Patriots rally. Richland County Patriots’ Searer flew out to end the ballgame.

Highlights: Laurel pitcher Mason O’Donnell struck out eight in 8.1 innings of work. Cameron Schriver pitched the final two-thirds for the saves. Trevor Meier, Kanyin Moran, Karson Zeiler and Carson West each had RBis for the Dodgers. The teams combined for 23 hits.

July 24
The Dodgers fall 3-2 after big the Billings Cardinals comeback
The Dodgers saw victory slip away on Sunday when a one-run ninth inning lead disappeared after a furious charge from the Billings Cardinals, who ended up with a 3-2 win at Pirtz Field- Billings.
Golden got the win in relief for the Billings Cardinals. Golden pitched two innings and allowed no runs.
Cameron Schriver was charged with the loss. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
The bottom of the first saw the Dodgers take an early lead, 1-0. Mason O’Donnell got things going for the Dodgers with a double. Then moved O’Donnell from second to third.
The Billings Cardinals never trailed after scoring one run in the tenth on an RBI single by Gibbs.

The Dodgers get 7 strikeouts from Carson Hoke, win 6-0 over the Billings Cardinals
Carson Hoke tossed a shutout to lift the Dodgers to a 6-0 win over the Billings Cardinals at Pirtz Field- Billings.
The Dodgers’ Carson Hoke kept the Billings Cardinals off the scoreboard for all nine innings he was on the mound. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on four hits while striking out seven.
The Dodgers sealed the win with three runs in the eighth. The Dodgers scored in the eighth on an RBI double by Carson Hoke, an RBI single by Mason O’Donnell, and a walk by Dawson Cortese.
O’Donnell went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Dodgers.
Egan was the game’s losing pitcher. He lasted just 4 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
The game’s last lead went to the Dodgers thanks to a first inning rally that saw one run cross the plate on an RBI single by O’Donnell.
The Dodgers scored one run in the fifth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the seventh. In the fifth, the Dodgers scored on a walk by Kanyin Moran, bringing home O’Donnell.
