All eight council members were present at Tuesday’s meeting.
They whipped through scheduled matters before passing three change order resolutions with Wilson Brothers Construction for increases in costs on the water intake project. At Doug Poehl’s request, the council will discuss the spending at the next workshop.
Change order No. 6, passed 7-1. Change order No. 7, passed 5-3, as amended to decrease the amount by about $957.
“I think its petty to subtract a restocking fee,” Councilman Bruce McGee said. “I want this to pass and I’m afraid it will come back in a form we can’t identify.” Poehls agreed, but said the council should set a precendence and further discuss the city’s responsibilily for the overages.
Change order No. 8 passed unanimously.
The council also accepted the donation of a sign from the Yellowstone Trail Association at the behest of local historian Greg Childs. The sign will mark the trail’s route through Laurel. It will be placed in Fireman’s Park near the Chamber building. The Yellowstone Trail, one of the first intercontinental routes was a precursor to Old Highway 10.
