Construction to stop for Thanksgiving

Wednesday, November 27, 2019

During the Thanksgiving holiday, the Montana Department of Transportation reminds travelers of the construction taking place at the West Laurel Interchange. MDT takes resident and visitor safety seriously and advises extra caution during the holiday. Last week traffic resumed normal operations on the eastbound and westbound lanes of I 90 and the new bridges. This concludes construction of Phase 1 until next year when the new pavement on I 90 will be chip sealed. Phase 2 construction is proceeding on schedule with work continuing on the new 19th Ave West bridge and access ramps. All construction will stop by noon on Wednesday, Nov. 27 and resume on Monday, Dec. 2.

Riverside Contracting began the project in 2017 to replace two bridges over the Montana Link Railroad tracks and Railroad Street to improve access to the west side of Laurel. A new bridge on 19th Ave West will provide access to I 90. This project will reduce the number of crashes at the current overpass. Construction is expected to conclude in July 2020.

Anyone wishing to receive direct updates may text “WestLaurel” to 555888. There is a construction hotline that has answers to frequently asked questions and can record messages at 1-800-956-3394. The project also has a website:
