Clarice Ione Moen Waller

Clarice Ione Moen Waller, 93, passed away Friday, July 19 after a short battle with cancer, one week after attending the Relay for Life in Billings. Clarice was born February 4, 1926 on the family farm in Day County, South Dakota. She was the third of ten children born to George Ingvald and Agnes Viola (Benson) Moen. At an early age she survived Polio, forming her into a very strong and determined lady.

On December 10, 1949 she married Vernon D. Waller in Sidney, Montana. They raised their five children and enjoyed a very large and loving extended family. In 1976, they moved to Laurel, Montana due to Vernon’s job transfer with Trac- tor and Equipment Company.

Clarice spent every free moment sewing, crocheting, knitting, doing crossword puzzles, doing jig-saw puzzles and making wonderful Norwegian pastries. She knit over 100 caps as a project with Sons of Norway which were shipped to de- ployed military soldiers.

Proceeding her in death were her parents, husband Vernon, grandson Daryl Stene, brothers Gilman, Orlin, and Gary Moen, sister Delores Kemmis, sons in law Archie Stockert and Ron Stene.

Surviving her are sons Vernon C (Audrey) Waller, Chandler, Ariz., Ronald (Marie) Waller, Laurel, David (Lynn) Waller, Forsyth, Mont.;and daughters Janice Stockert and Cheryl Stene, Billings, Mont.; grandchildren Tina Matlack, Jeff( Jennifer) Waller, Scott (Rachel) and Trent(Sandra) Stene, Marla (Jesse) Abell, Marc (Eymi) Stockert, Bradley and Brandon (Amy) Waller, Brittany (Joey) Perkins, James (Jacquelyn) and Sean (Kelsie) Waller, Amanda( William) Moriarity, and Tor Age Holmli; 23 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.

Surviving are sisters Ardys (Mervin) Torgerson, Lola Buxbaum Kemmis, Margaret (Donald) Ligon and Linda (Lynn) Powers and a brother Kenneth Moen and Vernon’s sisters Norma Schultz and Violet ( William ) Colbert.

Funeral services were Wednesday, July 24 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Laurel. Burial in Laurel Cemetery with a reception followed.
