Christmas to Remember awards announced

Members of the Christmas to Remember committee are delighted with turn out for the parade and attendant events Sunday. They have selected winners for the best parade floats.
There was a total of 23 entries in this year’s parade. Floats were sponsored by eight organizations, three businesses, a church and two city departments.
The Best of Parade title went to River Ridge Landscaping; Best Organization float was awarded to Laurel Girl Scouts; Best Youth Organization went to Boy Scout Troop 414; First Baptist Church won for Best Church Float; Ace Hardware was judged to have the best business float; and Allstate Towing had the Best Vehicle Float.
The Grand Marshals were Santa, of course, and Loden Eastlick and Tenley Hersel. The honor guard was provided by Laurel’s American Legion Post #123. The fireworks show was presented by the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department, as it is every year.
Winners of holiday Poinsettias were selected through a drawing. Tammy Hoffman, Darlene Weis, Laurel Federated Woman’s Club and Leanne Gilmore took home plants. Two prize winners were chosen at the bazaar from the attendees. Sheryl McComish won a $50 gas card and Barbara Jones won a Poinsettia.
