Best of Laurel voting begins today – no Trump or Clinton on ballot

It is time to get your pencils and pens ready.

The second annual Best of Laurel voting begins today!

In today’s Outlook, you will find the official ballot. It is called the official ballot because:

 • Only ballots from the newspaper will be counted. Photocopies won’t be accepted.

 • This is the official Best of Laurel contest and we want to do our best to make sure only legitimate votes are counted.

 • A person can vote as often as he or she wishes. While this isn’t the rule with most elections outside of Butte, we want as many votes as possible. Last year we counted several thousand ballots as I recall since I did most of the counting.

 • The ballot doesn’t have to be completely filled out but we would like each ballot to have at least 20 categories filled in.

• Only Laurel, Park City and Joliet businesses can be nominated.

The Best of Laurel is the best way to recognize local businesses and services you think stand out.

Everybody knows that word of mouth is an effective way to advertise and that is what the Best of Laurel is all about.

Last year we were amazed how many people used the Best of Laurel special edition as a shop at home guide. When visitors came, they used the guide to decide where to go and what to do.

This is the ultimate shop at home and stay at home guide.

The one disclaimer is that Best of Laurel isn’t scientific. If a business is motivated to convince employees and customers to vote for them, they can as many times as they want as long as they use the official ballot.

The ballots will run in the next three Outlooks so you have plenty of opportunities to cast your ballot.
