A benefit dinner will be held at the Broadview Community Center on Feb. 9 for Kinzer Mc-Cord, 18, of Molt who will be receiving a liver transplant at the University of Colorado on Feb.

19. The Broadview High School graduate was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver with an unknown cause.

After actively seeking a living donor they were contacted by Stephen Williams who was a match with the requirements of someone who was tall and under 55 years old with Type O blood. He is the husband of Megan (Schmidt) Williams who is a 2008 BHS graduate and a cousin to Kinzer.

Kinzer and his father Mike will be required to stay in Denver for at least two months following the surgery. Stephen and Megan will be required to stay in Denver for at least three weeks. The surgery is scheduled for February 19.

Kinzer is a 2019 graduate of Broadview High School. His brother Rayce and two sisters, Leah and Mindy, also graduated from BHS where they attended preschool through 12th grade. Mike served on the school board for five years as the advisory member for the Molt School District. Their mom Karen has always been a huge supporter of the schools and the many activities their children were involved in.

Originally Rayce tried to be his donor but his liver doesn’t properly process copper. Kinzer’s oldest sister Leah was unable to be a donor due to a pregnancy. Mindy was unable to donate due to her small size.

An account has also been set up at Yellowstone Bank for donations under “Leah Urbanski for the Benefit of Kinzer Mc-Cord.”
