At 4:24 p.m. on May 13, a male came to the Laurel Police Department to report a female had attacked his car with a bat in Riverside Park. In the unprovoked attack, the female smashed his windshield and repeatedly bashed the side of his car. While he was reporting the incident at LPD a 911 call came in that female had stolen the phone of an elderly woman who was walking her dog and was attacking her, striking her in the head with the bat.
By the time officers and medical personnel arrived on scene the victim had managed to wrestle the bat away from the assailant. Officers located the victim’s phone in the suspect’s car and Hattie Mae Bryant, 68, of Atlanta, Georgia was arrested and transported to the county jail. The victim of the attack was treated on scene.
As of yesterday morning Bryant was being held without bond at the Yellowstone County Detention Facility on charges of felony assault with a weapon, felony robbery, felony criminal mischief (loss of more than $1,500), misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor criminal mischief (loss of less than $1,500).
