Arizona superintendent is Laurel finalist
Arizona school superintendent Monte Silk toured Laurel schools on Tuesday and was introduced to the Laurel community in an evening meet and greet.
Silk is a finalist for superintendent for the Laurel School District. The other finalist, Michael Robey, took another job offer and is no longer a candidate for the Laurel position.
Silk was also scheduled to be interviewed by the Laurel School Board Wednesday evening, and Laurel School Board chairman Karen Teeters said he may be offered a contract, depending on the outcome of that interview.
Long-time Laurel School Superintendent Linda Filpula is retiring effective June 30 after serving the Laurel School District for 29 years, starting as a middle school teacher.
Silk is currently serving as the Superintendent of Colorado River Union High School District in Bullhead City, Ariz. He has served as Superintendent of Sidney Public Schools (2017-2020), Superintendent/Principal at Pine Creek School in Livingston (2015-2016), and Superintendent of Corvallis Public Schools (2009-2014).
