Anaise R. Morgan

Anaise R. Morgan

Name: Anaise R. Morgan

Profession: I am a residential real estate appraiser.

Why are you running for the Laurel School Board?

I have two daughters in high school. I feel the desire to support my community, our schools and a focus on the best academics for all of our children. I support discouraging the infringement of our rights as parents and promoting parental involvement in the decision making for our children.

What would you like voters to know about you?

I am a wife and a mother first. I am a taxpayer and a business owner. I am deeply committed to my kids and my community. I feel that it is past the time to get involved.

What strengths will you bring to the board?

I am able to make the tough decisions with regard to curriculum, budget items and teachers. Although I have a lot to learn about being a trustee, I want to learn and will put commitment into that. I get along well with others and will listen to other views and opinions and consider them.

What do you see as the biggest issue facing the Laurel School District?

The learning loss from the pandemic. The need for money for hiring new teachers and coaches and providing incentives for more to move or commute here. The music opportunities for kids are very limited. We could use more volunteer activity from the community, especially from parents.

What is the Laurel School District’s greatest strength?

I think that a good superintendent has been chosen. I look forward to the opportunity to work with him. Most of the current board members have done a great job in dealing with the difficulties with the pandemic. They are the kind of trustees that I will strive to conduct myself in the same way.

What are you more likely to buy your valentine this year?
