Edna “Violet” Leland

Edna “Violet” Leland was born in Joliet, Montana, November 1, 1923, to Ole and Ragna Leland. Before age one she lost most of her hearing due to scarlet fever. She had three brothers, Thelmar, Ted, Ray, and a sister, Gladys, all deceased.
After Ragna died Ole married Olga. Violet loved Olga and said she was very kind. As the two families intertwined, they became one big happy family.
Violet graduated from Joliet High and attended college. She held several office jobs and retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Violet loved the Lord and her church family. She was a friend to many, who in turn thought fondly of Violet.
On November 18, 2016, Violet continued her journey to her true "homeland" in heaven. She is survived by seven nieces, nephews and several grand-nieces and nephews. She was a great example of living life well and kept going throughout her 93 years.
Services are on Wednesday, November 23, 2:30 p.m. at Joliet Wesleyan Church. Memorial requests may be made to Joliet Wesleyan Church, Senior Center, or New Tribes Missions.
