New pastor at First Congregational Church

Pastor James Bell has been asked by First Congregational Church of Laurel to serve their community as a transitional consultant and interim pastor. He will begin his ministry on Sept. 1. First Congregational will move its Sunday worship to 9 a.m., beginning Sept. 3, in order to allow Pastor Bell to continue his ministry with Fromberg United Methodist Church where he has been preaching and teaching adult Bible studies since 2014.
Pastor Bell will lead the members of First Congregational through a series of studies and activities to help identify their history, present strengths and needs and their present and future mission. After an evaluation of these things has been made, Pastor Bell will help a newly elected pastor search committee create an appropriate job description and compensation package for a new pastor. These activities will take several months to complete. During this period Pastor Bill will lead Sunday worship and perform various pastoral needs as they arise.
Renewal, reconciliation, developing a servant-based ministry and personal evangelism will be among the major topics emphasized. Those looking to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as well as a desire to be part of a Christian community are welcome and invited to join this ministry.
