Michael Leonard Foley

Michael Leonard Foley, 67, died at his home in Billings following a short illness.
Born in Laurel, Oct. 19, 1949, to Leonard and Rosetta Foley, Mike followed his family traditions: hunting with his uncles, fishing with his father, and exploring Yellowstone Park and all of Montana with his extended family.
Mike was educated in Laurel, attended Minot State University and Eastern Montana College. He sold insurance and cars until he met and married LouAnne Ivanish in 1979 and later welcomed a daughter, Elizabeth, and a son, Daniel, into their family. During this period, he began working as a financial planner for D.A. Davidson.
After failed back surgery, he was disabled, and began pursuing his more artistic side. He joined choral groups, collected coins, went on bird-watching expeditions, wrote, painted and sculpted. He loved telling stories, jokes and tales of his adventurous youth. He was also a member of Lion’s Club, delivered lunches for Meals on Wheels, and often gave his time and money to those less fortunate. The things Mike was most proud of were growing up in Montana, his children and his commitment to friends and family.
Mike is survived by his wife, LouAnne; daughter, Elizabeth Schwartz (Dan); his son, Daniel; his sister, Beth (Don) Bitzer; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be at Mayflower Congregational Church on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m.
Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
