Donnie McVee, Laurel Public Schools business manager was recognized for winning the Outstanding School Business Official Award at the opening of the general session of the Montana School Boards Association Annual conference Thursday, Oct. 19 at the Alberta Bair Theatre.
She initially received the award in June at the Montana Association of School Business Officials conference.
McVee has worked for the district since 2013 and received glowing recommendations from Laurel School District officials, who nominated her last spring.
Laurel School Supt. Linda Filpula said in her letter of recommendation that McVee has “worked diligently to ensure transparency in our budgeting process and financial operations so that our board and public have a better understanding of the complexities of school finance.”
The Laurel School Board Trustees also submitted a letter to the executive director of the MASBO offering their collective support of her nomination.
“[McVee] has been instrumental in helping us gain control over decades worth of […] documents that have lingered in storage. Annual financial audits have gone from having multiple findings to her most recent clean audit, and we are getting better visibility into the district’s financial picture than ever before.”
