Laurel Dodgers win final four league games

Dawson Cortese hit his tenth home run of the year and five Dodgers had multiple hits in the high scoring affair on Friday, outlasting the Billings Blue Jays 24-17 at Thompson Park. Kanin Moran went 4-4 from the plate and Cortese and Keagan Campbell added three hits each. Carson West and Carson Hoke each had two hits and three RBI’s.

Deklan Harper got the win, pitching three and a third innings and giving up four runs on five hits while striking out four Blue Jay batters.

 

Billings 2, Laurel 24

In the second game of the double header, Billings jumped out to an early lead then stretched it to 7-3 going into the bottom of the fourth. Laurel scored 14 runs over their next three at bats to run away with the game, 17-7.

Deklan Harper, Braden McIlvan and Carson West each had three hits with Keagan Campbell adding two. Dawson Cortese went 1-2 and was walked three times.

Noah Gunther got the win in two no-hit innings, striking out three Blue Jay batters.

 

Billings 7, Laurel 17

Cortese hit a grand slam to lead the Dodgers to a 16-6 victory over the Glendive Blue Devils.

The Blue Devils took an early 4-1 lead after the first inning then stalled as the Dodgers took the lead for good in the bottom of the third. With the score 9-6 into the bottom of the sixth the Dodgers scored three runs before Cortese’s four-run homer ended the game.

Cortese led the Dodgers with four RBI’s, Deklan Harper added three and Carson had two on 4-5 batting.

Cameron Schriver earned the win, giving up eight hits and three earned runs with three strikeouts. 

 

Glendive 6, Laurel 16

In the 7 p.m. game, Dodgers got off to a fast start with a two-run homer from Deklan Harper and a two-RBI double from Braden McIlvan in the first inning the added 10 runs over the next five innings to close out Glendive 14-4 in six innings.

Harper and Carson Hoke were perfect from the plate with both going 4-4. Harper led the Dodgers with five RBI’s while Dawson Cortese added three.

Carson West pitched a solid game, fanning nine Blue Devil batters and allowing two earned runs on seven hits.
