Laurel Dodgers go 1-4 in Goldsmith tourney

On Tuesday afternoon at Dehler Park, the Dodgers went down 6-1 after the first inning and couldn’t catch up to the Bozeman Bucks, falling 10-6.

Cameron Schriver led Laurel in hitting going 2-3 from the plate. 

Chase Feller had five strikeouts, but gave up seven hits and 10 runs through four innings, earning the loss.

Laurel jumped out to a 4-1 lead after one inning in Monday’s afternoon Goldsmith Tournament game, then gave up 15 runs in the next three, eventually falling to Legacy, Colo. 16-8.

The Dodgers had 11 hits in the game, but their defense couldn’t hold hold off Legacy.

Chase Feller went 3-4 from the plate and Kanyin Moran 2-4.

Dawson Cortese got the loss giving up four hits and seven runs through two innings.

The Dodgers picked up their first Goldsmith Tournament game victory over Fossil Ridge, Colo. Sunday morning behind a dominating hitting performance by Keagan Campbell. He went 4-4 from the plate and had four runs batted in.

Kanyin Moran picked up three hits and Dawson Cortese and Chase Feller each had three RBI’s.

Carson West picked up the win with only one hit and one earned run through 3.1 innings. He also had four strikeouts.

The Billings Scarlets outlasted Laurel in a 1-0 pitchers duel in Sunday afternoons Goldsmith Tournament. The lone run scored was in the bottom of the sixth when Cameron Schriver gave up an RBI single to Samuel Berry.

Schriver pitched a complete game giving up six hits and the lone earned run.

Dawson Cortese went 2-3 from the plate and Kanyin Moran had the only other hit on the team.

The defense was flawless, with neither team committing an error.

The Dodgers were blanked by the Billings Royals in their Goldsmith Tournament opener on Saturday at Dehler Park in Billings.

Laurel had two hits in the 8-0 loss, with Carson West and Carson Hoke accounting for one apiece.

Hoke earned the loss, giving up six hits and three earned runs through 4.2 innings.

The Dodgers outscored the Glasgow Reds 48-13 in 11 1/2 innings in their June 21 home double header.

In the 5 p.m. game, the Reds tied the game 10-10 after a five run fourth inning before the Dodgers scored 10 in the final two innings to take a 20-10 victory.

Laurel had 18 hits with Dawson Cortese going 4-4 and three other Dodgers getting multiple hits.

Seth Green picked up the win giving up eight hits and no earned runs through 4.1 innings.

The second game was even more lopsided as Laurel took a 13-3 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning, then pounded the Reds for 15 runs. After Glasgow failed to score in the top of the fifth, the game ended in a 28-3 blowout. 

The Dodgers had 21 hits with every player on the team getting at least one hit and one RBI. Carson Hoke led the team in hits, going 4-5 at the plate, and Noah Gunter led in RBI’s, driving in four runs.

Chase Feller got the win, giving up three runs on four hits with five walks and five strikeouts.
