The Locos competed against more than 1,900 runners in the Mountain West Classic at the University Golf Course in Missoula on Saturday.

Coach Amy Caldeira said the race included premier runners from Montana and Washington.

“The morning started wet and chilly for our JV races, but slowly warmed up. The Laurel teams had mixed levels of success as we finish our last week of high level practice.”

Laurel’s varsity boys team finished in 32nd place out of 52 teams and the girls finished 29th out of 43.

Laurel’s JV boys finished 24th out of 43 teams.

Grace Timm finished in 29th place with a time of 19:42 and Levi Taylor finished 16th on the boys side with 16:25.

The varsity team is in Helena today for the 7-on-7 meet, and the JV team travels to Miles City Saturday.

Caldeira said, “The athletes are beginning to set their sights on Divisionals in Hardin on October 15th, and State in Helena on October 22nd.”
