Lady Panthers first, boys second in districts

The Lady Panthers scored 14 points to take first place in the District Track Meet held Friday at Laurel. They scored 144 points. 
Senior Rayna Laakso won three events (100, 200, high jump) while placing second in the 100 hurdles and the long jump. Junior Brittany Frank won the javelin while breaking her own school record and the District meet record. She also placed fourth in the shot put. While the following athletes did not win their events, their contributions were big. Senior MacKinzie Verke took second in the high jump and the triple jump while also placing fifth in the long jump. Senior Shelby Branstetter placed second in the 300 hurdles and third in the 100 hurdles. Junior Jackie Jorgenson placed sixth in the 300 hurdles.  Sophomore Blakely Verke placed second in the 400 and 800 and placed third in the 200. Sophomore Andee Baker placed third in the 400. Freshman Alexis Tryan placed fourth in the 100 hurdles and sixth in the 1600. The 4 x 100 relay placed second and the 4 x 400 relay placed first. Both relays are run by MacKinzie Verke, Shelby Branstetter, Andee Baker, and Blakely Verke.
The Panther boys placed second overall by only three points. Brandon Flemmer had a big day winning the 100 and 800. Connor McNeil finished first in the 300 hurdles and the javelin. He also placed second in the discus. Devon Dennis came in second in the 100 and fourth in the 200. Jordan Neves placed fifth in the 400. Rylan Gauthier took second in the high jump, third in the 200, third in the triple jump and sixth in the javelin. Devyn Shakley placed fourth in the javelin. Seth Popp placed fifth in the high jump. Freshman Eli Larsen placed in both hurdles, second in 100 hurdles and fifth in 300 hurdles. Both of the relay teams placed first.
