J-Hawk’s host cross country meet, May wins

Joliet hosted 19 schools and nearly 500 middle school, JV and varsity cross country runners on Saturday. Coach Rachel Herrington said it was a “beautiful day in Joliet for a meet. All of the participants competed well and had a fun-filled day.  The Joliet boys and girls both competed well and had a great showing.”
The varsity team placed 7th overall.  
J-Hawk junior Jakob May won the varsity meet with a time of 18:42.  Parker Smith was second amongst the Joliet team with a time of 21:56.  Dawson Bancroft had 22:06, Brigham Smith 23:46 and Riley Simons 27:38. 
Herrington said the JV boys did well and “pushed each other throughout the entire race.”
Raiden Ovitt finished 20th with a time of 24:26 and Nathan Ovitt took 21st with 24:29. 
For middle school boys, Bryce Williams placed ninth with a time of 9:37, his new personal record for the season. Dakota Weidner also had a new PR with a time of 19:53. 
“The CJ Roadrunners did well throughout the day as well, taking fifth place [overall],” Herrington said,
Keelie O’Reilly came in first on the team at 27:42, followed by Jalyn Songstad 29:02, Megan Deines 29:07, Allison Onoszko 29:10.  Liz Lorash 31:01 and McKendra O’Dore, 32:34. 
“The Middle School girls had an amazing day. Peyton Whitehead took two minutes off of her previous PR with a time of 11:44 and Kaitlyn Bancroft came in not too far behind at 13:09,” Herrington said, adding “we are looking forward to both of our meets this week in Shepherd and Big Timber.”
