George Donald Kaufman, 82, of Laurel passed away peacefully Tuesday evening June 13, 2017.  George was born in Billings on October 8, 1934 to Conrad and Amelia (Kessel) Kaufman.  He attended school in Big Timber and Billings.  George was Baptized and Confirmed at the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Billings.
The Kaufman family resided on the Boulder River in Big Timber before settling South of Laurel on the Whitehorse Bench in 1951 where they currently live and farm. George worked closely with his two brothers building and modernizing their farming business. Nephew Kim Bangert helped with the farming as tasks became more challenging.  He enjoyed the day to day challenges of farming and being outdoors.
Survivors include his brother Roy Kaufman, sister Geraldine (Kaufman) Bangert, nieces Deborah Bangert Alexander and her husband John Alexander, Penny Bangert Levy, nephew Kim Bangert, great nephews Michael (Tara) Barry, Daniel Barry, Chris (Amanda) Handlin, great nieces Michelle (Brook) Daly, Erin Handlin, great-great nieces Quinn Daly and Evelyn Handlin.
George is preceded in death by his brother Wilbur “Buddy” Kaufman, parents Conrad and Amelia Kaufman, sister and brother-in-law Katherine (Kaufman) Emerick and Gene Emerick, brother-in-law George Bangert.

Visitation was Saturday and Sunday, June 17 and 18, at Smith Downtown Chapel in Billings.  Graveside service 11:00 am Monday, June 19, 2017 at Mountview Cemetery in Billings. Condolences may be shared with the family by visiting
