Earl ‘Dean’ Simons was born on October 12, 1932 in Garland, Kansas, the oldest of seven children to Zelma (Trusket) and Clifford Earl Simons. In 1945 the family moved to Rapelje, Montana, where he attended Rapleje schools graduating in 1953. In 1955 Dean enlisted in the US Army, serving during the Korean War, and was discharged in 1957. In 1958 he met Dolores Hilderman at a rodeo dance in Columbus and they were married on June 13, 1959 in Columbus. They lived in Ryegate where they owned and operated D&D Drive-In. They moved to Park City in 1975 where Dean was a Stillwater County Deputy and served as a bus driver for Park City Schools. They later moved to Columbus where they owned and operated D&D Service Clean. Before retiring he worked for the Stillwater County Solid Waste Division. He was an active member of the Park City American Legion Post 100.
Dean passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017 in Laurel, Montana where he had resided for the past six years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jim, his sister Sharon, and son-in-law Marvin Raiha. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Dolores, his three daughters, Barb, Pam and Kathy, and son Jim (Cyndy). He is also survived by his sister Carolyn (Dave) Weise and three brothers Larry (Dee), Richard and Jerry (Betty). Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; Maddison, Zachary, and Jaxon, also survive Dean.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 18, at 1 p.m. at The Rock Church in Laurel, Montana. Military rites will follow at the Park City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Park City American Legion Post 100, Park City, MT, 59063.
